With the rampant increase of the number of confirmed cases of Corona Virus (COVID-19) spreading rapidly across the globe the reality of needing to stop it’s spread by self distancing, self isolating, and self quarantining is becoming painfully apparent. Yet we are faced with the reality of how challenging it is logistically, spiritually, and emotionally to cut off all of our human interactions. Even for those fortunate enough to be isolated along with the one’s we love in this tense time, it’s true that sometimes being in close quarters without any real option for personal space can make tensions rise, arguments break out, and even feelings can get hurt.
This 58 day challenge arises from the desire to find a way we can all come together and encourage ourselves to self quarantine while simultaneously helping to conquer this virus. Essentially, how can we open our eyes and see ourselves as heros for the human race rather than inmates doing time. To that end we propose everyone enter their quarantine with the thought of bettering themselves in that period of time, so we can all emerge even just a bit better than when we started it.
Self imposed 58 day challenge of self reflection, self awareness, self identification, and self improvement. Essentially we suggest everyone take a moment to self reflect and pick one thing about themselves that they would like to change. It could be something you want to start doing, something you want to do more of, something you want to stop doing. There are no limits or preconceptions you have to stick to, it could be anything. What would you like to change about yourselves so you can emerge from this challenge 58 days from now just a little bit better. Knowing you reduced the risk of having put the family, friends, coworkers, and acquaintances of our and every other human at risk?
Let’s look at this pandemic from a positive standpoint and see the ways CoronaVirus could be a blessing in disguise. Maybe we all emerge better human beings, more aware, more connected as a species, and more community driven once we have changed some of our unwanted behaviors and patterns? So instead of viewing this period of isolation as a negative, let’s make this a positive period in our lives. If we all choose to improve ourselves even just a little bit, then the whole world will be better than when we started it.
